Flatfile announces Transform: an advanced, agentic experience for data preparation

Transform enables users to clean and format data with unprecedented speed and accuracy, cutting data preparation time by up to 80%. 

The new capabilities represent a significant evolution in Flatfile’s platform, which integrates agentic AI throughout the data preparation workflow. Transform enables Flatfile users to not only prompt an agent to perform data cleanup and transformation tasks, but to review and apply data cleanup suggestions generated entirely by the agent. It takes the burden of both analysis and execution off of the users, while keeping them firmly in control through human-in-the-loop review processes.

Transform builds on previous AI features within Flatfile to offer customers a context-aware and repeatable data transformation experience, right within the customers' workbooks.

Analyze & Suggestions

The AI agent reviews each record, referencing validation rules and past user decisions, to recommend relevant transformations ("transforms"). Suggestions appear next to fields as the agent runs, and can be applied with a click.

• Analyze scans the dataset row-by-row and determines what errors and formatting issues the agent can solve.

• These solutions are surfaced as Suggestions next to the relevant fields. Users can review, preview how the transformed data would appear, and modify or apply the Suggestion.

Saved Transforms

Each time a transform is applied—whether it was suggested by the agent or prompted by the user—there is the option to save it for later use. Users can individually apply Saved Transforms or select to "Run All" each time new data is imported. This makes every subsequent import faster, easier, and more consistent.

Inline Transform

Users can also prompt transforms directly from any field, or refine AI suggestions inline—giving users granular control over how data is cleaned and adapted.

AI that understands your business 

Unlike generic automation tools, Transform is context-aware. The agent references your unique validation rules, schema, and past decisions when generating suggestions or responding to prompts—so its recommendations are both intelligent and relevant.

Users can preview all their data changes, accept or reject recommendations, and roll back modifications at any time with version history.
