Customer stories

According to industry research, 97 percent of an organization's outreach is left on the table when relying on traditional, impersonal outreach such as email and phone calls.
The team at Goodkind is using personal video to bring back human connection and help businesses take advantage of all those missed opportunities to solve this problem.
"Our philosophy is that over time with the growth of the Internet, people have lost the personal touch," said Michael Warshafsky, co-founder and CTO of Goodkind. "It's easy to send out an email blast or conduct a huge calling campaign to target people with personalized, but not personal outreach, but it's getting harder and harder to reach people. So we're bringing back the days when you walked into a local shop, and you knew the person that you bought from."
Goodkind helps companies create and send personal videos to their customers in a scalable way, allowing large numbers of employees to send one-to-one videos easily. Every Goodkind video is attached to an action: allowing you to sell products, book meetings, start chats and drive donations, right inside the video experience.
"There are many other kinds of personal video platforms out there," said Warshafsky, "but our ability to let the staff at all levels of an organization send out videos to single individuals makes us different. We are not a video platform per se but more of a personal storytelling platform."
Goodkind currently has customers across education, travel, retail, and non-profit.
When it came to solving the challenges of importing customer contact data, Goodkind turned to Flatfile.
"We can't do anything without that information," said Warshafsky. "We also have integrations with other kinds of third-party software platforms, so we’re receiving data as CSVs and other formats. We need to bring it in, organize it, clean it, and get it ready to use."
Goodkind quickly found the Flatfile platform, a data exchange solution, to solve the problem and make it easy to ingest data from customers and third parties. One of the key benefits of using Flatfile is that Goodkind's support staff no longer have to worry about resolving data import issues like incorrect formats and missing data fields and are now free to handle more value-add activities.
"We were a Flatfile customer early on," said Warshafsky. "We went through the pains of importing data, but when we learned about Flatfile, we realized their platform was a good way to save serious time. As a startup, time is precious. We looked at some other open source solutions for importing data, but they didn't stack up. However, Flatfile’s level of execution was much better than anything else we found."
Warshafsky was also pleased that integrating the Flatfile data importer into the Goodkind platform was seamless.
"There is sometimes a perception of an implementation hurdle with a new platform," said Warshafsky, "but that wasn't true with Flatfile. With their documentation, you can get Flatfile's data importer going in a matter of days. The implementation process was easy."
Having Flatfile helped Goodkind quickly address the apprehension customers sometimes have regarding the data onboarding process.
"After signing up, customers often have data import anxiety," said Warshafsky. "They worry that there will be too much work to get their data into our system. But when we show them the Flatfile solution, they're satisfied with the simplicity of the process. It's easier than they expected. We're importing data every day, and we never have a problem."
Warshafsky is pleased with his relationship with Flatfile.
"What's rare about Flatfile is that they've been in the shoes of a startup and are very understanding of the problems a startup faces," said Warshafsky. "I always get the feeling that they have our back, and they want us to succeed. That's refreshing because I think most software companies would treat us like just another customer. I don't feel that way with Flatfile.
"The ability to clean data in real-time during an import is precious," Warshafsky summed up. "Making sure that the data is correctly formatted is crucial to our customers. If the data isn't correct, the rest of the sequence stalls, so it's all about getting the first step right and knocking it out of the park, and that's what Flatfile does."
