Your enterprise data exchange needs are dynamic and ever-changing. However, your migration team may struggle to keep pace with project requirements. Why? They’re handcuffed by legacy development processes that won’t allow them to customize data transformation applications to fit their needs – impacting their onboarding workflow.
That’s where Build Mode changes everything. Build Mode is a streamlined, AI-assisted solution for configuring Flatfile, enabling your team to create and manage data validation rules, workflows and updates in real-time.
It significantly reduces the time and complexity of onboarding, making it accessible for users that don’t have coding experience.
No coding, no delays — just fast, intuitive customization that puts you in control, with no need to wait on developer assistance.
Flatfile Product Lead Alnoor Pirani introduced this new addition to the platform on the third day of Launch Week – a celebration of the largest feature release in the company’s history.
Here’s our Build Mode session recap and a primer about this powerful new tool.
The Flatfile team reimagined our platform to give you an option to kick off your desired configuration using Autobuild – an important first step in the process that is more straightforward.
For instance, if you have a file that describes your system’s requirements, you only need to upload it to AutoBuild, which will generate a configuration that matches your requirements in seconds.
“[It] does a deep dive into your file, and it's almost like having a brilliant analyst who can understand your document and says, ‘I see exactly what you’re aiming for here.’ And then creates a complete data onboarding application custom tailor to your specific needs by translating your documentation into a functional system,” Pirani explained.
However, what makes AutoBuild truly impressive is the intuitive user interface that lets you make quick adjustments to your configuration without a code deployment.
AutoBuild also features a live, interactive preview that shows you real-time changes to your project in a fully functional sandbox.
With this new feature, your team will be empowered to build a data onboarding process that precisely matches your needs. While AutoBuild automates the technical implementation, you still retain complete control of the output.
Do you want to dictate that addresses use a specific format or that dates have a designated range? With AutoBuild’s Intelligent Validation Handling, simply describe your requirements using natural language and it will generate the validation rules.
You can quickly identify valid and incorrect data with an integrated sandbox – giving you confidence that your validation rules are precise.

During the Launch Week sessions, Pirani continued to explain how “Flatfile operates on code, [and that] you can simply express your needs in everyday language while our system translates.
“The result has custom-coded functionality, so you get the power of custom-coding without having to write a single line yourself.”
Testing is a vital part of the data onboarding process, but it's tedious, time-consuming and painful. Enter Auto Build’s Automatic Sample Data Generation feature: an innovative solution that will generate representative sample data, so you’re not beleaguered by prep work.
Automatic Sample Data Generation creates realistic sample data to match your data. And it can also generate sample data with both valid and invalid records, so you can see exactly how your configuration behaves across a variety of data scenarios. Essentially, it’s a ready-made sandbox for your data migration team.

“No more dummy files, no more hours spent on test data. Whether you need numbers, dates or text, Auto Build has got you covered,” said Pirani.
In fact, you’ll see that the sample data appears side-by-side in the user interface when you’re setting validation rules. This gives you the opportunity to quickly adjust your rules so you can refine your configuration.
Pirani added that “the result is a more efficient development process. You're able to test and optimize your system before going live with real data.”
